Sasona

Potential members learned about Sasona on an outdated website that was difficult to navigate and not responsive to screen size changes.

As a result, potential members were often confused about house policies before arriving.

  • Problem Statement

Potential members can understand Sasona’s house policies if they can navigate on a responsive website.

  • My Role

I am the web developer for this role. I used CSS, HTML, and Javascript.

Old Website

  • Strengths

    • Blue color to promote trust.

    • Simple flat navigation is easy to use.

  • Weaknesses

    • Website is not responsive to all screen sizes.

    • Dark text on a dark background is difficult to see.

Revisions

  • Color Theme

Even though, I’m fond of Sasona’s original blue color, I changed the color to a dark green to emphasize the membership’s enjoyment for outdoor activities and gardening.

  • Austin Co-Ops and FAQ

For pages that were originally called “links”, I used more descriptive language so that users could engage with other Austin Co-ops.
I also added a FAQ page using Javascript to make the clickable answer reveal.

Final Thoughts

  • Reflection

I enjoyed learning more about responsive web design and using web tools such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I think one of the more valuable lessons I learned in this project is asking for help from other colleagues who are also learning the new skill. Working together certainly helps the material stick.
